Important Update for Healthcare Plan Members About Prescription Drug Dispensing

Mar 31, 2020

To prevent shortages in Manitoba's drug supply, and to prevent the stockpiling of medication, Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living is requiring pharmacists temporarily limit the number and quantity of prescription drug dispensed as follows:

  • Manitoba pharmacists may provide only a one-month supply (to a maximum of a 35-day supply) in a 28-day period for all drugs.
  • This restriction applies to all prescriptions, regardless of a patient's drug plan.

Manitoba Blue Cross will be updating their systems to support this directive and ensure a steady supply of prescription drugs in Manitoba.
